Personal Reflection

Some of the things I learned about this topic is that it is a big issue. I didn’t think there where so many different problems that involved teens and alcohol. Underage Drinking can be the cause of a lot of different problems. When people are under the influence so many accidents can occur and innocent people can get hurt. Some teens become depressed when they are drinking and some even think of harming others or themselves. Teens always act different when they are under the influence. Most teens do not know what they are doing or regret what they did the next day.

Some of the things i understand are that a lot of teens like to drink because it’s a “fun” thing to do or the “cool” thing to do. Sometimes teens like to compete to see who can get drunk the quickest or to see who will pass out first. I also think that movies and music can be the cause of young people drinking. Pop culture can be a big part of that too. Pier pressure is a big part to the whole drinking scene because the “cool” kids are the ones who are telling you if you don’t drink than your a loser or you wont fit in. Some of the things I don’t understand are how some parents don’t know what there kids are up too. Sometimes parents should be more careful because teens today are growing up in a world with so many possibilities.

My topic makes me feel a little frustrated at times because I have seen a lot of things happened with teens who drink. I just hope parents can be a lot more careful with there teens or kids. I feel frustrated because so many of these stories are true and I’ve seen some happen. I still wonder why parents are so clueless to what there kids do for fun. Some parents just need to open there eyes and see what types of friends there kids are making. Not too many things left for me to wonder or ask about, This is a topic that a lot of teens are familiar with.

Reflection on the Blog Process

Friday, February 8th, 2008

I’m glad my topic turned out the way it did because I got to learn so much in the process. The part I felt was the hardest thing to do about my topic was finding all the information I needed to do my blog, and it got very repetitive way to quick. The part I think I did very well in was that ii gave a lot very helpful information. The thing I would have done differently would have been to give more statistics because I think it is very helpful because it opens your eyes and you can see that this really does affect kids.

Three things I learned about my topic are that alcohol can affect you in so many different ways, some people think that it does nothing bad to you but they have no idea how wrong they truly are. People making bad choices is one of the biggest ones because that’s how abuse can happen in homes because the dad or mom happen to be drunk fight will happen. Alcohol can be the cause of your death or someone else’s. Irresponsible drinkers who go out on a joy ride and happen to get in a accident or hit someone who was in the wrong place at the wrong time.

The only advice I can give someone who is a underage drinker is to be more safe. They should try to think first before they act and that goes for everyone who drinks. The blog post I recommend to you is The Affects that Alcohol has to You’re Body. The reason I recommend this one is because this will at least open up your eyes and show you what alcohol will do to your body once you are older, maybe it will make you drink less.

I thought the blogs where fun and this is a handy skill you can use in the future like posting blogs. This was more creative in a way I think a lot of students rather post a blog than write a typed essay on their topic. The easiest part of this project was posting your work because you know you accomplished another blog! I think that by reading other students blogs helped me out in my blogs and it made me learn and understand new topics that where completely new to me! I have learned a lot.
