According to Trust for America’s Health and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, Florida ranks 18th in the country for fatal injuries. According to the two organizations, over 12 000 Florida residents each year die due to preventable personal injuries. For those under age 45 in the state, accidents and violent injuries are the leading fatalities.
The organizations’ findings also suggest that more money could be put towards preventing Miami personal injury. While accidental injury prevention gets very little funding, personal injuries cost the US over 0 billion in medical expenses and in reduced productivity. Accidental deaths cost Florida alone 8 million annually in medical costs.
In Florida alone, 67 out of 100 000 state residents die annually from preventable personal injuries, including Florida and Miami drunk driving accidents, Florida Miami slip and fall accidents, traffic accidents, and other preventable injuries. This is higher than the national average of 58 accidental deaths out of 100 000 US residents. Men also are overrepresented in accidental fatalities. Men account for two out of three accidental deaths.
Trust for America’s Health and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation made ten suggestions for how states could help prevent accidental fatalities. These suggestions include adding a motorcycle helmet law, which could help prevent fatal brain injuries in Miami motorcycle accidents. Another suggestion was for Florida to mandate built-in breathalyzers in the cars of convicted drunk drivers. The two organizations also suggested that Florida could do more to prevent teen dating violence and could pass booster seat laws to prevent childhood injuries in Miami car accidents. Florida already does have bicycle helmet laws, prescription drug monitoring, and seat belt laws, which puts the state ahead of some others when it comes to preventative safety measures.
According to the study and other experts, some of the top preventable injuries in the region include Miami motorcycle accidents, Miami car accidents caused by distracted driving, and Miami injuries and falls caused by alcohol. In many cases, the fatal and serious injuries that emergency doctors see in Miami are quite preventable. While Miami hospitals do a good job of treating Miami brain injury patients and other trauma patients, doctors agree that prevention is key to preventing fatalities and serious accidents.
Some of the things I learned about this topic is that it is a big issue. I didn’t think there where so many different problems that involved teens and alcohol. Underage Drinking can be the cause of a lot of different problems. When people are under the influence so many accidents can occur and innocent people can get hurt. Some teens become depressed when they are drinking and some even think of harming others or themselves. Teens always act different when they are under the influence. Most teens do not know what they are doing or regret what they did the next day.
Some of the things i understand are that a lot of teens like to drink because it’s a “fun” thing to do or the “cool” thing to do. Sometimes teens like to compete to see who can get drunk the quickest or to see who will pass out first. I also think that movies and music can be the cause of young people drinking. Pop culture can be a big part of that too. Pier pressure is a big part to the whole drinking scene because the “cool” kids are the ones who are telling you if you don’t drink than your a loser or you wont fit in. Some of the things I don’t understand are how some parents don’t know what there kids are up too. Sometimes parents should be more careful because teens today are growing up in a world with so many possibilities.
My topic makes me feel a little frustrated at times because I have seen a lot of things happened with teens who drink. I just hope parents can be a lot more careful with there teens or kids. I feel frustrated because so many of these stories are true and I’ve seen some happen. I still wonder why parents are so clueless to what there kids do for fun. Some parents just need to open there eyes and see what types of friends there kids are making. Not too many things left for me to wonder or ask about, This is a topic that a lot of teens are familiar with.
Can a political candidate who buys billboards for example use a balance left over with the billboard company for personal use? So, for example, let’s say the candidate uses campaign money in the amount of ,000 to advertise his campaign but only uses ,000 of or gets a credit from the billboard company for whatever reason, can the candidate use it to promote a personal business after the campaign is over considering that the money from the billboard company is not refundable and the remaining balance can only be used for billboard advertising?
Actually, the previous answer is wrong. Teh campaign must keep its money separate from the candidate’s personal or toher businesses.
In fact, probably, each campaign must be kept separate, unless the money was given specifically for the candidate to decide which campaign to apply it to.
Many campaigns end in debt, and then even losers have to find a way to raise the money to pay for the services already used. This can be difficult for a losing campaign, but it happens. I think McCain ended the last Presidential campaig n in deep dept (don’t quote me on it though) and had to go on the rubber chicken circuit to raise money, even though he had plenty in other "war chests".
